Why you are reading this
Because you are about to type something into a box on this site, or you just did, and you should be able to see what happens to it without reading nine screens of policy. This is the whole of it. The privacy policy is the long version and the two do not disagree.
What is collected, and what each thing is for
- What you typed — A website address, or a business name and a town. Used to identify the business and run the audit. Sent to Google and to our ranking data supplier as part of asking about it.
- A session cookie — Used to keep this browser recognisable from page to page, so a scan can find its own results and so the limits below can count. It is not used to advertise to you.
- Your connection, hashed — Your IP address is hashed with a secret held on our server and the original is discarded immediately. Used to enforce rate limits and to detect abuse. We also record the browser string, the country and region our host reports, the page you arrived on and the site that sent you.
- Your email address, only if you unlock a report — Used to unlock the full audit and to send you a copy of it. It is not added to a marketing list and it is not sold.
- Your answer to the consent banner — Kept for 180 days so you are not asked on every page, and recorded so we can show which version of the policy you were shown.
What is never collected here
- No recording of your screen — Session replay is off across this entire site and there is no setting that turns it on.
- No device fingerprinting — A session cookie and a hashed IP are enough.
- No advertising trackers — There is no advertising pixel on this site.
- No raw IP addresses — Only the hash is written down.
Is any of it sold or shared?
No. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. The companies that receive any of it are suppliers running a step of the audit on our instructions, and they are listed by name in the privacy policy.
How long, and how to get rid of it
Raw scan data is kept for twelve months and then reduced to summary columns. A report link works for 30 days. Your consent answer lives 180 days in the cookie.
